It seemed like a bargain for $5 sealed - a brazilian instrumental record with cover versions of 'The odd Couple' and 'Lamento', and some other cool sounding song names. However, it's a slightly odd sound, and 'lamento' turns out to be not the great Jobim composition at all (I guess it's quite a common word, lament...) 'The odd couple' itself is nice, with prominent organ. The percussion throughout is loud and pretty cool. I can't put my finger on it, but somehow something doesn't quite fit here. The arrangements and performances are pretty nice. I think maybe the material just isn't to my taste. This is all based on one listen, so perhaps this is a grower... |
