The first side continues with some familiar songs, including 'Yellow Days', 'Our day will come' (featuring some nice piano), and 'along comes mary'. The title track is very different from the Association's hit. While it's obviously the same song, much of Cal's version is taken up with a jam on the chorus melody.
The second side begins with 'Los Bandidos,' a very cool instrumental. It's long (at 7 minutes, much longer than most tracks I'm into) and jazzy with some great percussion. The album continues in a less poppy manner than the first side with 'Similau', 'Green peppers', and the percussive 'Samba do suenho'.
Overall, I like the album a lot. The arrangements are mostly by Chico O'Farrill, which had led me to expect things to be a bit more spikey and up-beat, but it's a great album anyway. | Cal Tjader recommendations at Musical Taste You'll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart) Morning Fresh Air
