A very enjoyable Ramsey Lewis album, on first listen anyway. Great upbeat tracks with a 'party' sound, but also with a funky edge, particularly on tracks like 'Jade East' and 'Party Time'. Also contains covers of famous soul tracks like 'soul man' and 'respect'. Superb Cover, with the same 70s/futuristic looking typeface used on Dorothy Ashby's 'afro harping' and Brother Jack MacDuff's 'The natural thing'. |
